Creating a Learning Culture

WD-40 Company is committed to the ongoing development of its tribe.  We strongly believe in strengthening our tribe from within. Building a deep bench of great talent and future leaders is one of our strategic drivers and it’s critical to our continued success. All tribe members interested in learning and growing have access to comprehensive development and training programs, formal educational support, and coaching.

The Learning Moment

What keeps people in organizations from wanting to learn? They look at mistakes as career-damaging events rather than opportunities to learn. At WD-40 Company when things go wrong, we don’t call them “mistakes”; we call them learning moments. We applaud the opportunity to openly discuss, learn, rectify, grow from our learning moments and share with others to avoid repeated learning moments.

Learning Laboratory

The Learning Laboratory is our ecosystem for professional development.

Through our labs, we create and deliver relevant learning to equip our global tribe members with the skills and experiential learning essential for success. The Learning Laboratory encompasses programs that develop leadership, general competencies and internal faculty who teach these programs. Technical product knowledge is provided through Tribology University and Commercial Academy to develop world class selling skills that lead to operational excellence.

A robust and progressive series of courses designed to provoke critical thinking about leadership, putting theory into action. Emphasizes “learning by doing” and the WD-40 Company approach
to servant leadership.

A learning track of subject-specific topics separate from leadership courses such as presentation skills, project management, behaviors of trust, etc. Most courses are taught by tribe members, all with a deep expertise in their topic and a passion for sharing and teaching.

Tribology University offers our global tribe members comprehensive online and face-to-face curricula on our products.
