Snapshot of What We’re Looking For
We are currently seeing an experienced Brand Manager to join the highly functioning WD-40 Specialist team. Partnering with the Group Brand Manager, this person will be responsible for the development and execution of rolling 12-18-month and marketing plans, programs and strategies for assigned brands to include: advertising, public relations, promotions, collateral, market research, and packaging. The Brand Manager will support the Group Brand Manager on developing a 5-7 year strategy to achieve sales, EBIDTA and growth objectives.

- Develop, propose, implement and monitor brand/product plans and strategies to achieve sales, EBITDA and growth objectives over a rolling 12-18month plan for assigned brands across all trade channels.
- Brand champion responsible for achieving assigned brands’ EBITDA and sales goals by developing, implementing and communicating appropriate annual brand plans.
- Responsible for analyzing brand metrics, trends, shipment and consumption data to understand state of business, competition and develop necessary plans to strengthen business results.
- Lead product/package/process, renovation ideas through market analysis, technical aptitude, and abilities to find and utilize trends, customer, market, and financial information. By following established processes, substantiate profitable product or new business opportunities through sound business cases.
- Lead the pre-launch/launch strategy, planning process and in market execution process of new or renovated products working with the Innovation team.
- Collaborates with Customer Marketing to ensure brand strategy and all new programs translates and adhered to customer strategy and category leadership.
- Responsible for leading agency partners in an understanding of the brand’s objectives, strategies and positioning as to provide the best support to brand team to attain the goals within the seven year strategic plan. Ensure agencies are fully engaged and participate in cross collaborative planning
- Collaborates with e-commerce team to ensure brand strategy, assets, & content are adhered to and implemented within brand scope and guidelines.
- Assists team in creation and development of national promotions for assigned brands to achieve EBITDA and sales goals. Directs marketing support including the creation of all packaging, collateral, point-of-purchase, direct mail programs, market development, and sales promotion.
- Guides Associate/Assistant Brand Managers on the development of new and promotional (national) SKUs to ensure that assumptions are accurate and that the contribution levels satisfy company objectives, as well as EBITDA and sales goals. Develops recommendations for SKU Rationalization.
- Trains team to prepare quarterly and annual forecasting assumptions that supports brand plans. Regularly engages with Sales Planning, Demand Planning, and customer marketing teams to develop contingencies to bridge any gaps in attainment of Plan.
- Utilize various qualitative and quantitative research techniques to develop an in-depth understanding of end-users’ perceptions, behaviors and preferences across key touch points. Analyze and present results from various research initiatives, focusing on key findings, implications and recommendations for action
- Works with Digital Team to determine appropriate brand representation on brand websites, the US corporate website and company Extranet (WD-40 411). Supports Social Media marketing efforts by monitoring and engaging in social media, as required
What You’ll Bring To The Role
- 7+ years of progressive brand marketing experience in consumer packaged goods.
- Experience leading the development of marketing plans, collateral development, and tactical execution (P&L proficiency, special pack project management, forecasting, etc.)
- Experience implementing and analyzing data from a variety of quantitative and qualitative research methodologies
- New product development and/or trade marketing relevant training
- Experience implementing and analyzing data from a variety of data sources
- Advanced knowledge of all facets of strategic consumer package good marketing, analysis, budgeting, forecasting, planning, and execution across diverse trade channels
- Advanced Knowledge of the application of marketing methods, tools and principles to develop new and grow existing brands within trade channels.
- Knowledge of merchandising strategies across trade channels
- Advanced verbal and written communication.
- Knowledge of how to establish functional partnerships/relationships with sales individuals and teams to “sell-in”
- Strong negotiation and influencing skills
- Broad knowledge of supply chain and information technology functions and the impact they have on marketing activities/function
- Competent in mathematical calculations, formulas, research, compilation tasks and basic statistics.
- Strong leadership (in/direct) across multi-functional teams. Proficiency in the typical disciplines of a manager, including planning, evaluating, organizing, coaching, developing and directing. Ability to effectively motivate staff to achieve objectives.
- Able to express concepts and inspire targeted audiences through one or more forms of media
